What is the difference between a normal radio and amateur (ham) radio?
regular radio for news and entertainment. Ham radio is a hobby or services and people around two or more talk or otherwise communicate with each other. Amateur Radio covers many different things, the use of short waves to bounce signals off the ionosphere to communicate across the world to use walkie-talkies to speak on behalf of the city, transmission of voice or data via digital satellites like the International Space Station, to bounce signals on the moon. As a service, it tries to keep a group of people who have and can use this type of equipment to provide communication services in case of emergency …. and after an earthquake or Hurricaine etc. …
