What is the scope of a watt handheld VHF radio in 5 years?
I wonder how much of the coast that I can always go in my boat be able to talk to someone on the ground with 5-watt VHF portable radio. Everything I try to buy no indication. Thank you for any input ….
We have a vintage HH-SITEX handheld aboard our boat 300 to all times and our mounting base Uniden. The SITEX very well using the rubber duck "antenna at a distance of 5 to 7 miles offshore sailing and talk to other marinas. If you communicate Hand in hand, about three miles is the range that can wait. I echo the thoughts above, does not depend on a handheld that our only radio communication means. Hope this helps!
